            Partners (NORWEP)
            with Werner Karlsson,
                Regional Director Middle East
                and engineering hubs Europe
Werner Karlsson joined NORWEP from the position as Managing Director of the oil company Saga Petroleum UK Ltd. He has held various positions in Saga since 1977, and previous to the UK position, he worked as a Senior Vice President for the organization and service division, and as a member of the Corporate Executive Committtee.
Norwegian Energy Partners (NORWEP) is the effective vehicle for promoting the Norwegian offshore and energy industry’s capabilities in overseas markets. How would you define the Norwegian expertise?
The Norwegian based expertise in offshore and maritime services has captured some 10-15 % of the world market. It is based on strong academic institutions, R&D and long industrial traditions as a maritime oriented country. The support from government also create innovation and entrepreneurship in several industrial cluster around the Norwegian coast from Oslo to Kirkenes in the North.
NORWEP has just organised a very successful event with EVOLEN and the French-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce (CCFN) in Paris on the 31st of May, gathering more than 140 French and Norwegian companies. How do you assess the potential for cooperation between France and Norway in the Energy industry?
We believe there is a huge untapped potential because of the maritime traditions of our two countries. Like in Norway , I also see strong entrepreneurial and innovative attitude in the French industry. The recent event in France also showed a great enthusiasm from government and industrial leader to develop a strong alliance between France and Norway strong in the Energy sector.
Do you plan to organise new events with the CCFN in the future?
Absolutely , the model selected for this event can serve a as a model for future collaboration.
