Why Norway?

Norway, Sustainability Pioneer

Norway might be one of the world’s largest natural gas exporter, but the country is also overflowing with sustainable projects: low greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy production, carbon capture, unique expertise in sustainable projects, and more besides.

In Norway, there is broad agreement on climate policy and long-term targets, which gives predictability for business and industry. Legally binding targets for emission reductions and strong environmental legislation have been in place for a long time, as have economic incentives for a green economy. Norway has unique expertise and experience in the field of sustainable energy production. Norway has a very high proportion of renewable energy in its energy mix compared to other countries. Almost 100 % of its electricity production is from renewable energy sources. Policies targeting both supply and consumption secure a continued transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. Norway has a number of policies and instruments that contribute to energy efficiency. The Government contributes to developing markets for energy-efficient solutions and releasing the potential of energy efficiency.

Norway, a World laboratory

Norway is a stable an innovative market where significant private and public investments in innovation and new clean & smart technologies are made every year. Norway offers great advantages compared with many other countries- It benefits from a homogeneous, wealthy and educated population. Main applications: electric vehicles, hydrogen, autonomous mobility solutions, ITS, energy storage …

Oslo, European Green Capital 2019

The European Commission awarded Oslo the prestigious European Green Capital title for 2019.

The European Commission awarded Oslo the prestigious European Green Capital title for 2019. As European Green Capital 2019, Oslo has taken on an important task: to be a role model to other cities. Oslo is small enough to test rapidly new solutions. However, Oslo is also big enough for solutions to be scaled up to larger cities. One of the reasons for Oslo being awarded the European Green Capital in 2019 are its ambitious climate targets: to cut carbon emissions by 36% in 2020 and 95% in 2030
