A Historic Day for Franco-Norwegian Cooperation: CCFN at the Heart of President Emmanuel Macron’s State Visit to Norway

June 23–24, 2025, will stand as a landmark moment in the history of Franco-Norwegian relations. On the occasion of the first official visit by a French Head of State to Norway since 1984, the French-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce (CCFN) had the honor of playing an active role alongside the presidential delegation, committed to strengthening economic, industrial, and technological ties between our two nations.

Strategic Participation in a Strengthened Bilateral Dynamic

Led by President Emmanuel Macron and accompanied by four French ministers, the visit marked the elevation of the Franco-Norwegian relationship to a strategic partnership. Through this agreement, France and Norway reaffirmed their shared commitment to deeper cooperation in key areas: security and defense, energy transition, industrial decarbonization, and advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence.

In this context, the CCFN signed a tripartite cooperation agreement with Business France and Innovasjon Norge, aimed at jointly promoting trade and investment between France and Norway. The signing took place in the presence of French Minister of the Economy and finance Eric Lombard, Norwegian Minister of Energy Terje Aasland, and State Secretary for Industry Ragnhild Sjoner Syrstad — a symbolic moment that reflects our shared ambition to scale up economic synergies.

A High-Level CEO Session: Encouraging Strategic Dialogue

In collaboration with the Norwegian Embassy in France, NHO (Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise), Innovation Norway, and BNP Paribas, the CCFN co-organized a high-level CEO lunch session that brought together the leaders of Mistral AI, Naval Group, Hexana, Euronext, and the President of ENGIE for a strategic exchange with President Macron. This closed-door event fostered direct dialogue on shared priorities, including artificial intelligence, energy transition, and defense.

Direct Engagement at the Highest Level

The CCFN also participated in ministerial roundtables, including discussions on industrial decarbonization, and had the opportunity to engage directly with President Macron. These key moments reflect the recognition of CCFN’s central role as a trusted connector between French and Norwegian business communities.

A Strong Signal for the Future of Franco-Norwegian Business Relations

The CCFN’s involvement in this historic visit is a source of pride and a renewed commitment to serve as a facilitator of lasting partnerships between companies, institutions, and stakeholders in both countries.

This day marks a significant step forward for the CCFN — more committed than ever to supporting our members and advancing the Franco-Norwegian business relationship.
