Industrial visits
Morning
▶ Introduction and guided visit of Airbus's assembly plant, FabLab ProtoSpace and A350 FAL
Toulouse is the home of Airbus headquarters, but also a site for many Airbus divisions. It is the production location for numerous Airbus aircraft (including the A320, A350 XWB and A330), has facilities dedicated to cabin furnishing and painting, and is even home to the A380’s Final Assembly Line and flight preparation. Airbus has a wide range of activities in Toulouse: engineering (general design, systems and integration tests, definition of the structure and more), structural testing, materials processes development, systems organisation, flight tests, architecture and general design, integration tests and systems, propulsion, structural design and computation as well as aircraft painting and delivery.
Airbus’ ProtoSpace facilities provide the environment, means and tools to develop disruptive concepts and accelerate the pace of innovation.
Afternoon
▶ Visit at LAAS-CNRS, Laboratory of Analysis and Architecture of Systems (LAAS)
LAAS’ research activities address complex systems to devise theories, methodologies and tools for modeling, designing and controlling them. The systems are of many kinds: integrated, embedded with real time and safety requirements, distributed, mobile, autonomous and robotics, and micro, nano and biological. They fall in various application domains such as aeronautics and space, telecommunications, transports, energy management and many others.
The scientific research is divided into eight main departments: Critical Information Processing, Networks and Communications, Robotics, Decision and Optimization, Micro- and Nano-systems RF and Optics, Nano-Engineering and Integration, Energy Management, and Micro-, Nano- and Bio-Technologies.
(Optional) Friday 22nd of November
Morning
▶ Visit of the hub for intelligent and connected systems
The Francazal airport is the new hub for innovative autonomous transportation in Toulouse. It is a 55 hectares urban reconversion project dedicated to experimentation of autonomous vehicles and drones. The site currently accommodates companies employing 300 people:
- ATR (maintenance and prototyping programs).
- Tarmac Aerosave (leading European aircraft storage company).
- Airborne Concept (professional drone solutions).
- Acia Aero Parts (aeronautics).
- EasyMile (electric, autonomous shuttles)
- Hyperloop Transportation Technologies.
- EVA (Electric Visionary Aircrafts)
