Launch of a new committee dedicated to the topic: France-Norway, doing business beyond cultural differences

The French-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce organised two meetings on the topic « cultural differences between Norway and France and how to deal with them ». These meetings, attended by top managers from both French and Norwegian companies, are an opportunity for participants to share experiences, challenges and best practices about intercultural management.

The first meeting, held on August 18th, focused on cultural differences in business environments. Emmanuel Soetaert, President of Statkraft France, gave us insights thanks to his experience working in a French subsidiary of a Norwegian company. 

The second session of these intercultural meetings was held on November 10th and was presented by Solfrid Skilbrigt, Director of Human Resources at Sopra Steria Scandinavia. As she has worked for different French companies in Norway, she could point out differences between France and Norway from the employee point of view. We could discuss differences in communication styles, in handling business meetings, or for example in the perception of the hierarchy.

As a bilateral organization, the French-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce considers a better understanding of cultural differences as a key element for business relationships improvements between France and Norway.
