Technip Awarded Umbilical Supply Contract by Statoil in Norway

The French company, world leader in project management, engineering and construction for the energy industry has been awarded an umbilical supply contract by Norwegian operator Statoil for the Oseberg Vestflanken 2 field off Norway.

The contract covers project management, engineering and manufacture of more than nine kilometres of static steel tube umbilical which will be manufactured at Technip's facility in Newcastle, England.

As a company we have invested significantly in our Newcastle facility and it is encouraging to see the award of contracts, such as Oseberg, from this,” managing director of Technip Umbilicals Sarah Cridland said.

Technip expects work on the project to be completed during the first half of 2017.

It adds to the company's award earlier this year to fabricate and install 7.5 kilometres of 14-inch production pipeline and nine kilometres of 10-inch gas injection pipeline at the field.

Statoil's Oseberg Vestflanken 2 field lies about eight kilometres north-west of the Oseberg field in Block 30/9-30/6 on the Norwegian continental shelf.

The development consists of an unmanned wellhead platform with 10 well slots, while two existing subsea wells will also be reused.

The well stream will be routed to the Oseberg field centre via a new pipeline and production start-up is currently scheduled for the end of 2019.
